URL Forwarding vs metatags (Jan 09 2005 01:46 GMT) - Hi, I'm not an SEO guru but what i do know (learned it here) is that metatags are not the be all of a web page, Google as I see it ignores meta tags on the whole and looks more at the content of the actual html page (you could have hidden meta data eg <ford - fords - ford cars - ford cheap cars) and your page is all about carp fishing. Google will see what Joe public sees = Carp fishing (it looks at the content of the text words seen by the world on your html pages) and you will show up in Google under fishing terms not from hidden meta tag words. same goes for images, I keep seeing people putting images containing masses of text and they wonder why they have have no reference on google (an image could be anything, and any text within an image is unreadable to a spider, its just a picture) pure well written text, good title, description then meta tags thats how I work on pages, also supporting links from sites that are related eg guest house directories, travel information centres etc will also be of benefit bp |
