So I went off to the DomRef website and grabbed the code, and started poking around for the right wiki engine for people to use, when I noticed that it already is a wiki. |

Generics and VJ# (Jan 09 2005 21:58 GMT) - I've been looking a bit into VJ# of late and was surprised to find out that though VJ# can consume generics, you cannot create generic types in J#. I was going through this old interview where Brian Keller talks about the CLS and generics and offers an explanation as to why J# hasn't this implemented it (as of yet) ...Generics were not added to the Common Language Specification because it puts a large onus on language developers that would then need to implement generic data types in their compilers. It will likely be added to the CLS in the Orcas timeframe (following Whidbey)... Now that generics is set to be part of the CLS, it would be interesting to see how this affects J# (and other languages too)This Blog Hosted On: |

Genes And The Aging Brain (Jan 09 2005 21:57 GMT) - (From Newsweek). "Are the changes in the brain that accompany aging caused by damage to the underlying genes involved in functions such as learning, memory and the transmission of nerve impulses? Exciting new research suggests that they may be, and the findings could eventually help predict and prevent degenerative brain diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's." The spectrum of possible degenerative conditions in the brain is as wide as the brain is complex - the well known conditions are simply those we see most often. Far greater understanding of brain genetics and cellular biochemistry is absolutely necessary for significant extension of the healthy human life span. |
