in lincoln . . . (Jan 17 2005 23:59 GMT) - we enjoyed ourselves in lincoln, visiting bonnie's family. her sister, notably, was in town, and i was able to talk a little with her, for the first time. my assessment of lincoln as something like johnson county with the megabucks and the mcmansions reremoved--imagine if everything south of the johnson drive corridor and north of the wyandotte county line were removed--remains, but i liked it better, mostly because of the snow.and there was a lot of snow, and there was more when we got there, which proved something of an inconvenience: britt had to return home by a certain time and day, which was almost right after we got there, and the sudden blizzard-like conditions prevented her linking up with her bus. |

To Catch a Thief Review (Jan 17 2005 23:59 GMT) - Alfred Hitchcock's 1955 film To Catch a Thief is a big, gooey picture that differs in content over much of the suspense masters other pictures. Cary Grant stars as a former thief, and patriot of the French Resistence, who is currently suspected of a new series of crimes. Grace Kelly plays the beautiful daughter of a rich American woman who is high on the list of possible victims of the new cat burglar. |

Saw Review (Jan 17 2005 23:56 GMT) - I knew very little about Saw before I watched it yesterday. It came out during the time I was too busy moving out of my house and preparing to leave for France to pay much attention to upcoming movies. In France I heard a little buzz on the internet about it being a very captivating and scary thriller. I tried not to pay much more attention than that because there is nothing worse than learning too much about a scary movie before you go see it. |

Paradisiacal Society (Jan 17 2005 23:55 GMT) - What would make a perfect society? Governments of all different types strive for this perfection, but always come up short somehow. For communism, it was the individual's desire to better himself that caused the failure. For capitalism, it was and currently is the greediness of the individual.
