Can gurus survive the Internet? (Jan 18 2005 02:58 GMT) - The word "guru" itself can be problematic since none us want to say that we'd accept anyone's word on face value. I divide my attention a couple of ways: There are certain people whose commentary I will read, whose movies I will watch, or whose books I will rent on tape just because of who they are. The rest fall into the category of "You've got a few seconds/minutes. Get me interested, and I'll linger and look deeper. |

Necessary replacement things (Jan 18 2005 02:57 GMT) - Today, after determining that I'm still on the training schedule, I went and got my eyes checked, complete with dilation. I picked out new frames and placed my order. Yay new prescription! I have enough wrong with my eyes that it took quite a bit of doing to get something that would work. If I got contact lenses, I'd probably have to get bifocal contact lenses -- one part prescription and the other part plain, because my eyes are getting to the point where I have to take off the glasses to look at small things up very close. |
