U.S. Military Resorting to Collective Punishment (Jan 18 2005 23:30 GMT) - The U.S. military is resorting to collective punishment tactics in Iraq similar to those used by Israeli troops in the occupied territories of Palestine, residents say. Military bulldozers have mown down palm groves in the rural al-Dora farming area on the outskirts of Baghdad, residents say. Electricity has been cut, the local fuel station destroyed and the access road blocked. |

TikiMac intros Mahana II FW800 drive (Jan 18 2005 23:30 GMT) - Hawaiian-themed company TikiMac on Tuesday introduced its Mahana II series of external hard drives, which feature a pair of FireWire 800 ports and an Oxford Semiconductor 912 chipset, which the company said "offers up to a 25 percent speed boost over the original Mahana drive, as well as transparent compatibility with Macintoshes and Windows PCs." The Mahana II comes with FireWire 400 and 800 cables and can be purchased in 500GB (US$399), 600GB ($599), 800GB ($799) and 1.2TB ($1,149) capacities. |

The view is awesome, the site curator gave me a loan of his fieldglasses with which I could clearly make out the Wallace monument in Stirling, almost 20 miles away, and see the coastline of Fife with the continuous stream of traffic snaking over the Forth road bridge 10 miles, or so, over to the east. While I was there an 'alternative type' group turned up, armed with compass' and crystals. They sought out one of the large stones to the west of the cairn ... |

Scans w/ more than one HD (Jan 18 2005 23:27 GMT) - All of you - I hope - run spyware/adware/virus tests on your computers; many of which have more than one hard drive. I just recently installed a second hard drive myself, and I was just wondering if these scans automatically scan the seconday drives, or if there's some way I have to choose for it... |
