In the Loop (Jan 20 2005 02:57 GMT) - It's fun when the local paper is the one that reports on the federal government. Al Kamen's In the Loop column in today's Post is even funnier than usual. The first section starts:What with Social Security apparently in dire straits, we called the Social Security Administration hot line the other day to get an update. A most apologetic recording said "your waiting time will be" nine minutes to speak to a real person. |

I wonder, in the spirit of openness, if the Washington Post will report just who those major corporate advertisers are that it is providing Inaugural tickets. |

Chile 3 (Jan 20 2005 02:54 GMT) - Over the weekend, we hit the beach in Vina del Mar, which is a beach town a couple of hours from Santiago. We were actually up at Renaca beach, which is a little further up, but it all looked pretty much the same- very steep cliffs, covered in hotels, and a wide sand beach, covered with Chileans. We hung out for about 4 hours- I only sustained a sunburn on my wrist and along the very top of my very large forehead. |
