Peer-to-peer nets 'here to stay' (Jan 22 2005 23:20 GMT) - Heck, this is not really that shocking of a news story, but the BBC is expressing their thoughts about the fact that P2P networks have no intention of going anyplace. Even with all of the legal snags and problems many of the companies running these things have run into, most people collectively seem to believe that we will have P2P networks around for years to come#8230;. pa href=http://channels. lockergnome. |

Napster Gets $52.2 Million In Funding (Jan 22 2005 23:20 GMT) - All a company really needs to get its feet off the ground again is a really huge cash deposit! Ya, that would be nice. But it looks like Napster has just such a blessing as they receive an influx of the sum of $52.2 million stemming from the sale of the same balance in stock to investors. Now this ought to get things moving for them, right? |

Firefox flies into over drive (Jan 22 2005 23:20 GMT) - So, you love using Firefox and feel that it is the fastest browser a person could possibly need? Personally, I think it is fast, but the fastest? That remains to be seen. Still, I found mention of a cool tweak at The Inquirer that might help to put the browser into over drive so you can get things moving at a speed that even you will find satisfactory!#8230; |

Stem Cell Hype and Hope (Jan 22 2005 23:20 GMT) - Hype & Hope is one of those "not quite a blog, not quite a news service" offerings that have been springing up of late - many posts and pointers, but little editorializing. Hype & Hope focuses on stem cell news with a more or less equal weight given to financial and business news, noteworthy science and political stories. It looks to be a useful resource in its present incarnation, so hopefully it will stay that way.... |

Scott: Change is gonna come ... (Jan 22 2005 23:18 GMT) - Scott: Change is gonna come I've been following some of the coverage of the Blog Credibility Conference at Harvard (from, Weinberger, Jarvis and Winer, among others). It continues to amaze me how much of this debate is a retread of the mid-'90s, when journalists first moved online and discovered that the Web moved really fast, had different norms, gave their readers new voices and made their own voices sound stuffy and institutional. First I think, "Come on already!"; |

You win some, you lose some. (Jan 22 2005 23:18 GMT) - On Friday morning, the movers showed up at 8am. We'd been up since 6am finishing last-minute packing and deciding to leave a few things in the house for now until a weekend trip back to Austin in a week. An hour later, with the St. Bernard in my Kia Sportage and the cats in the Explorer, we headed to Houston. Got there around 11: |
