Company manager charged in Chicago's hired truck scandal (Jan 25 2005 23:45 GMT) - A Palos Township man is charged with setting up a front company in Chicago to get preferential treatment as a minority business and paying bribes to get work in the hired truck program. Suspect John Cannatello is linked to a south side alderman and has done business with Mayor Daley's brother. |

'24' stops nuclear Armageddon with WiebeTech (Jan 25 2005 23:45 GMT) - When a briefcase was stolen during this season's first episode of Fox's popular series "24," no one knew what was inside it. During the recently broadcast sixth episode, however, the contents were revealed: a WiebeTech Forensic Field Kit. Well, within the world of the TV show, it was a device for overriding nuclear reactors, but "24" prop master Dick Kyker explained: "We knew WiebeTech's storage devices had wonderful utility which would appeal to our viewers. |

Liability Issues Return Concerning Online Posts (Jan 25 2005 23:45 GMT) - [WebmasterWorld] - "...a libel lawsuit against a business professor who posted a student's essay to the web to start a discussion. The problem was that the essay detailed the story from one of his students talking about how a company, Ben-Tech, had allegedly pushed him to take confidential materials from Siemens, where he was employed at the time. While posting the paper to the internet was mainly for class discussion only, Google found it, and that helped Ben-Tech find it, and decide that it was libelous." |
