BellSouth Files Lawsuit Over Proposed Lafayette Fiber Project (Jan 26 2005 13:50 GMT) - The Daily Advertiser reports that BellSouth has filed suit in the 15th JDC against the City of Lafayette and its Utility Systems alleging that incorrect procedures are being used to issue bonds to pay for a fiber-optic cable project. If you want the less nerdly boil-down, here it is: someone else is working on flexible displays. In fact, a whole alliance of Japanese thinkers, including both electronics companies and Kyoto University, have developed a prototype display that may be the cornerstone of portable screens of the future. Unfortunately, all the pictures of this technology seem to suck, so this breathtaking picture of tomorrow instead evokes something more like a wheeze. |
