Board game under CC license (Jan 30 2005 23:17 GMT) - Cory Doctorow: Andrew invented a strategy board-game called Dugi that looks like a fair bit of fun (looks a little like Pente or Go -- he bills it as being "as simple as checkers, as strategic as chess). He's released it under a Creative Commons license and invites you to improve on it. Though I'm pretty sure that this isn't the first "open source boardgame," it certainly looks like it would be fun to play! PLAY: |

Mac Mini to PC Hack (Jan 30 2005 23:17 GMT) - DiZASTiX writes "Kevin Rose, the ever so popular host of G4/TechTV's The Screen Savers, has managed to fit a PC inside the Mac Mini. 'I've seen a ton of articles around the web lately comparing the Mac mini to the near full size desktop PC. What they fail to compare is the amount of computing power per square inch you get with the mini. So, I decided to take it upon myself to create the fastest PC possible with the size constraints of the mini's small form factor.' The article covers most e... |

Apple Ranks Number One (Jan 30 2005 23:16 GMT) - In a news article at Yahoo/Reuters they polled brand recognition with branding professionals (it's an odd url, I'm assuming it won't last but I'll put the pertinent info below). It's interesting that Apple nudged Google out of first place. I'm surprised that Ikea isn't as high in North America as it is globally and that Al Jazeera is on the global list. Even though I'm a big fan of 80% of the North America list, I'm still surprised that Pixar made the list. Also, Coca-Cola didn't make the top 5 list anywhere world-wide.... |
