Apple: Video's future is Tiger, QuickTime 7, H.264 (Jan 31 2005 23:46 GMT) - One of the most talked-about video codecs in the last year, H.264, will make its debut in QuickTime 7 this year when Apple ships Mac OS X Tiger. Apple says that because H.264 is a standard and has been adopted by standards organizations and many other companies the battle for the successor to the current MPEG-2 video standard is basically over. |

Yarra Valley Software makes iMagine Photo free (Jan 31 2005 23:46 GMT) - Yarra Valley Software on Monday announced that iMagine Photo, its AppleScript-based image and video processing tool, is now free. Google Eyes Domain Registration Market (Jan 31 2005 23:46 GMT) - 1sockchuck writes "Google is now an ICANN-approved domain name registrar, an intriguing move that could be tied to its blog hosting service, Blogger. Yahoo recently dropped its domain prices to $4.98, as hosting companies use domains as a cheap way to lure customers. Registrar status could allow Google to compete aggressively on price. Bloggers seem to resist paying for hosting, so cheap domains might help Google's plans for world domination. |

В 22 регионах России начнут продавать льготные проездные (Jan 31 2005 23:46 GMT) - С 1 февраля в 22 регионах России вводится льготный билет на проезд в городском транспорте, сообщает РИА "Новости". По словам министра транспорта Игоря Левитина, "из 85-ти регионов, подписавших протокол (об условиях предоставления льготникам транспортных услуг), мы проверили 74 региона. В 19 регионах льготы на проезд в транспорте сохраняются в натуральном виде. В 22 регионах с 1 февраля вводится льготный проездной билет, в 13 регионах - с 1 марта". Левитин полагает, что еще часть регионов сможет присоединиться к тем, кто вводит льготные билеты с 1 февраля или с 1 марта. |
