O'Reilly Releases new volume in Designer's Notebook series: Photomontages (Feb 04 2005 20:42 GMT) - Photomontages are, of course, multiple photographic images that, once artfully combined, assume a new and more complex definition is both believable and aesthetically thrilling. "Imagine fresh laundry taking flight from a clothes dryer," says the O'Reilly press release, "a woman posed inside a perfume bottle, or a triptych that shows the play of light and shadow over the facade of a building at different times during the day." Interesting ideas and in "Creating Photomontages with Photoshop: A Designer's Notebook"(US $24.95) well-known French artists reveal the techniques used in creating these and other projects. |

GMail - Google Email - Is It about to be offically launched? - 50 Invites too [Mark Dwyer] (Feb 04 2005 20:41 GMT) - Just been looking at my gmail (Google Email) account which has been very useful recently, i noticed that i now have 50 invites to invite people to use gmail. As i noticed on a few forums that gmail users are getting more and more invites, so is google about to officaly launch it email services or are they doing final beta testing with mass users. So this is a great time to get in get that easy to rember email address: eg. ukbusinesscoach@gmail. |

Not In The Public Interest - Muni Wi-Fi Report (Feb 04 2005 20:40 GMT) - David Haskin reports in Network Computing's Mobile Pipeline about a supposedly independent study released this week claimed that municipal Wi-Fi networks likely won't succeed. The study, compiled by the New Millennium Research Council, focuses on whether taxpayers will get taken for a ride on these networks and whether cities will be able to keep the networks up to date. More damning, though, was the report Thursday by a competing publication, eWeek, that New Millennium is owned by a Washington lobbying firm, Issue Dynamics, that has major telecom companies as clients. |
