Citing low lending fees, Tosa library edges toward leaving county system (Feb 11 2005 00:59 GMT) - Anonymous Patron writes "Some Interesting News our of Milwaukee, Wiconsin, where The Wauwatosa Public Library is taking preliminary steps toward leaving the Milwaukee County Federated Library System. Such a split would be a first in the 30-year history of Wisconsin's federated library systems, according to the state. The Milwaukee County federation is working on a proposal to subsidize the reciprocal borrowing payments in an effort to keep the system intact. But the four communities are hedging their bets in case that falls through." |

gAIM upgrade (Feb 11 2005 00:58 GMT) - Anyone here use gaim as their IM client? I do, and I have found that this plugin is a must for those running at high resolutions. Until I found this tonight, I did not know of a way to get the text to be a decent size on my high resolutions. |

There She Goes (Feb 11 2005 00:58 GMT) - There She Goes - the monstrous hit single off the only (self-titled) album The La's ever released, is the only track enigmatic perfectionist songwriter and La's frontman Lee Mavers has ever been happy with. Described as the JD Salinger of Pop, Mavers has had problems with heroin (not everyone seemed to be aware of this) yet rumours of a return to the spotlight seem to continue to surface. |

Web Technologies - like Biomimetism (Feb 11 2005 00:56 GMT) - Diego Duval writes: Many people have been talking for a while about the need for software to become more biomimetic, at least in the sense that systems in biology appear to deal fairly well with unpredictability, failure, and interaction without strong interdependencies. Look at DHTML, XML, and web technologies in general: from the start, they can run in vastly different environments. If we look again at the app as depending on and adding to the ecology of its runtime environment (instead of viewing it as a static element that just sits on it), web technologies are fairly flexible creatures: |

Pooh's Heffalump Movie (Feb 11 2005 00:56 GMT) - Film Reviews: "Pooh's Heffalump Movie" likely will play best with toddlers and pre-schoolers easily amused by bright colors, merry songs and lovable, huggable toon animals. Modest and muted pic won't be around long in theatrical run, but should prove quite popular down the line as the homevid equivalent of a pacifier. |
