God exists. (Feb 15 2005 01:59 GMT) - I am so utterly amazed that I'm at a loss for words, but that's okay because The Poor Man already said it. I've not written a word about the Jeff Gannon story except for one mention, on January 28th. I... |

Sorted lists of reviews, using rvw! and del.icio.us (Feb 15 2005 01:59 GMT) - Fast 'n' Bulbous have already started on their 2005 albums list (warning, big page). DJ Martian (as well as keeping a page of similar resources) is using rateyourmusic to keep an alphabetical list of this year's best albums. Somebody else has a list of rated albums there too. I've been posting short reviews to del.icio. |

Fall from Grace (Feb 15 2005 01:59 GMT) - The end of an era. Our family dog, Grace, has passed away. She lived six months, approximately six months longer than the vet gave her when she first got sick, something we are all thankful for. So we were granted half a year of time with her, and instead of being euthenased in a sterile vet clinic all those months ago, she got to run in the paddock, eat gross things from gross places, nuzzle against us schmoozing for a cuddle or a pat. And in the end, she died in familiar surroundings, in a place of happiness and love. |

Geek request: organise my birthday alerts! (Feb 15 2005 01:54 GMT) - After having forgotten a friend's birthday, I really need to find a service that'll email me when it's close to someone's birthday. An easy-enough service you'd think, but it's fraught with problems. Especially when I want one that'll let me transfer the data around - the rest are so protective. Plus one that I can trust to actually email me, and ideally one that interfaces with my Nokia phone. So far, I think I've got various birthday and anniversary reminders dotted with Yahoo, Plaxo, BirthdayAlarm and Mozilla Calendar. |

Chinese New Year in Cardiff... (Feb 15 2005 01:54 GMT) - Popped out for a dimsum Sunday lunch yesterday. On the way back we bumped into the defacto Chinese dragon dance ritual that's inflicted on Chinatowns everywhere about this time. The interesting thing about this one is that, as far as I can tell, there wasn't a single Chinese person involved in the ritual - they were all white. This is either: - a fantastic example of Welsh multi-culturalism at work - Cardiff is a city where nobody is interested in their own culture - Chinese people in Cardiff are bored with Chinese-ness - it's another way of meeting the sexy Chinese girls that seem to entrance a particular brand of person - it's been like this for years and I've only just noticed |

Terrifying English people with their close-harmony singing (Feb 15 2005 01:54 GMT) - Came back from London to find a motley collection of mates celebrating Wales' rugby victory over Italy, and simultaneously a mate's birthday. For said birthday drink celebrations, he'd brought over some friends from his hometown. At one point, a small crowd of Welshmen (including some actors from Pobol Y Cwm - oooh, I am just having a celeb-filled weekend) started boisterously singing some rugby anthems. Drunkenly, of course, and with great joy and gusto yn Gymraeg - if not actually singing ability. This actually scared the crowd of Englishmen enough that they eventually relocated to another pub. |
