From the Mailbag (Mar 31 2005 23:58 GMT) - Reader J.R. of New York writes, Greetings Norm, It seems that you are in some sort of search for truth like many of us with "less dust in our eyes," and there is a lot of writing about "reason" in your blog, but today the first thing I saw was a Nietzsche quote! Nietzsche, a philosopher who basically opposed rational thought and science, is directly responsible for laying the emotional (I refuse to say "intellectual")ground for the rise of Nazism in Germany, and its eventual philosophical migration to the New World. Dorset Cursus (End) (Fieldnotes by TreeHouse) (Mar 31 2005 23:58 GMT) - Visited 31/3/05. The long lump in the field is actually a very long long barrow, maybe a barrow of two parts, but long none the less. It is aligned with the (no longer visible) end of the Dorset Cursus. Towards the narrow corner of the field is another, ploughed down, long barrow that looks a bit like a tumulus. This too points at the cursus end-point, as does the barrow on the hillside to the south (in the neighbouring field). |
