Google's Long Tail (Mar 02 2005 00:59 GMT) - Chris Anderson writes: What Google has done is to find and monetize the Long Tails of both advertisers and publishers. These include millions of small companies and individuals who may never have advertised before, at least not nationally. They were considered sub-scale--too small to be worth a call or visit from an ad salesperson, possible too small to even think of themselves as an advertiser at all. But Google ads are self-service, cheap, and performance based (pay-per-click), which all combine to dramatically lower the barrier to entry. |

I don't do pills (Mar 02 2005 00:57 GMT) - Last night was the pain, yes. When I got home, B was in the shower. I lied on the bathroom mat, on the floor, and chatted with him through our frog curtain about our respective days at work. And the pain. I chose the floor over the counter or the toilet (with closed lid) because it was cool and hard and I could curl into a fetal position, making my uterus feel better. |

Is it just me... (Mar 02 2005 00:57 GMT) - ...or do your eyes fixate on the empty center of this Michael Jackson Trial graphic that E! has been plugging non-stop? Every time it comes on TV, I feel like my eyes are going cross-eyed. That space between the "L" and "J" is not just wide, but dead center in the layout. I can barely look at it without feeling like I'm about to fall down a hole. |
