MSNBC - Not the first time for ChoicePoint (Mar 02 2005 03:57 GMT) - ChoicePoint's Feb. 15 admission that it unwittingly sold sensitive personal information on 145,000 people to criminals isn't the first time the data warehouser has been in the crosshairs of the legal system. A review of public records across the country reveals the Alpharetta-based company has been involved in at least 11 lawsuits since 2000 involving possible misappropriation of information.They center on three allegations: that the company illegally sold or posted motor vehicle information, that it sold erroneous insurance information to insurance carriers and that it sold erroneous criminal history information to potential employers. |
