Men for at sikre software endnu mere...overvejer jeg at lave en metode, som tjekker at cd'en sidder i cd-rom drevet, for at programmet kan køre...selvfølgelig ikke hele tiden... |

Music and health (Mar 02 2005 21:57 GMT) - NPR presents an article on the work of jazz drummer and music therapy professor Milton Graves's work on music and the heart ("Music of the Human Heart May Hold Clues to Healing"). The page also has links to a discussion with several music therapists ("Music Therapy") and to an interview with Professor Graves on his own work in music therapy ("Professor Milford Graves"). His work has its roots in the traditional African use of music in healing. It's probably no surprise that Traditional Chinese Medicine also uses a form of music therapy. The system is based on the Law of 5 elements and relates specific types of sounds and music to specific organs and emotions. |

Women, diabetes and heart disease (Mar 02 2005 21:57 GMT) - A recent study found that diabetic women run a greater risk of dying from heart disease than diabetic men ("Diabetes Heart Risk Higher for Women Than Men"). According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, women's bodies generally tend to be more yin than men's bodies. More yin means more of the Water element (since Water is yin), which translates to cooler bodies and therefore slower circulation. This is equivalent to heart problems in Western medicine. Diabetes, in TCM, is defined as a problem of 'Excess Water' (and also 'Excess Earth'). |

My government, at work... (Mar 02 2005 21:57 GMT) - Got a sweetheart deal on a subscription to the A-squared News the other day, so we're on for three months of home "delivery." Under current conditions, that means somebody drives by and tosses an orange bag into the snow drift near my mailbox, but I mounted an expedition this afternoont to retrieve it. On page B5, I found a segment on Restaurant Inspections. While not thrilling reading, it IS pretty darned interesting to note that the Clock Works Coffee House wasn't keeping its Half & Half cold enough, or that the metal stem thermometers were not accurte. |
