How Original Do You Need To Be? (Mar 05 2005 13:59 GMT) - I agree, Adrian. Er, mostly. :) Creativity is a double-edged blade. At some undeterminable point, creativity is called "being ahead of your times," at which point you risk being ignored until the rest of the world catches up with you. |

the results of a walkabout (Mar 05 2005 13:59 GMT) - It's hard to talk about an artistic rut when your in the middle of it. I've been in one for about a week now, unable to produce much of anything but needing to produce lots of something. So I wandered around the internet and found some wonderful strips, some new, some new to me. Here are a couple of the best: They are unique gems indeed. |

Hartwell to Seattle? (Mar 05 2005 13:59 GMT) - Enter Edgerton Hartwell. The Seahawks are one of 17 teams that have been in contact with the agent for the Baltimore Ravens' inside linebacker. Hartwell would not be a replacement for Simmons, but he'd definitely be an upgrade at the... |

Down by the river (Mar 05 2005 13:57 GMT) - A quote stolen directly from Caterina Fake: In Chinese literary criticism there are different methods of writing called "the method of watching a fire across a river" (detachment of style), "the method of dragonflies skimming across the water surface" (lightness of touch), "the method of painting a dragon and dotting its eyes" (bringing out the salient points). - Richard E. |

WELCOME (Mar 05 2005 13:57 GMT) - Hi! I am affiliated with VERIZON WIRELESS in Dublin. In the past few years, I have noted some serious treachery going on at the HQ. Did you know that the higer ups at VERIZON have created cliques and are weeding out senior reps through changed policies and unrealistic quality standards? I know of three people who had bonuses coming being terminated before they could get their money. |

Mushookies Demystified (Mar 05 2005 13:56 GMT) - Since a few of you asked about the "They taste like my cat!" reference in my previous post, I thought I would explain it here. The quote is from one of the funniest episodes of "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy" (formerly known as "Grim and Evil"). For the uninitiated, the show is about Billy (a happy-go-lucky by rather dim boy) (He is voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz - aka Invader Zim) and Mandy (a very cynical girl). The Grim Reaper loses a bet w/ them regarding their hamster and is forced to be their friend. |

Time well spent (Mar 05 2005 13:56 GMT) - The best part of having my old gang back together for a few days was just spending time together doing ordinary things. We spent a day walking around Town Lake, we ate at some of our old favorite spots, and played a little Scotch-enhanced Scrabble (even though I'm always terrible at it, I did OK this time!). We also showed Kumiko around Central Market, apparently an amazing sight for a Japanese tourist! On Matt's last night in Austin, we headed down to South Congress ("SoCo" for the hip crowd) for First Thursday, ate yummy burgers, and watched the International Tubadores on the street. |
