- Jim Plaxco of the National Space Society tried some creative processing of Mars image data with artistic rather than scientific goals in mind. Some of the results are quite to my taste; others are more for lovers of the abstract. - I'm beginning to think I should invest in a pair of USB wireless headphones, and this setup from E-Kai will hopefully bring new competition to the market. Coming in at only 5,980 yen (like 60 clams), E-Kai's system is comprised of a base station that connects to your PC via USB which in turn sends signals to the headphones via infrared (therefore avoiding interference from wireless LANs). - Epic Games announced today that Microsoft Game Studios will use the advanced Unreal Engine 3 in developing games for its next-generation Xbox system. Developed with both advanced PC systems and next-generation consoles in mind, Epic's newest game engine features multiprocessor support, advanced pipelines, and a toolset designed specifically for next-generation titles. "We only work with the best partners and utilize the best technologies, and Epic and the Unreal Engine 3 hit the mark on both those fronts," said Shane Kim, General Manager, Microsoft Game Studios.
