Space Policy discussion of "low hanging fruit" that needs doing (May 01 2005 14:59 GMT) - The last session of the conference was a policy discussion around what we, the industry, could do next after our success with the regulatory issues last year. This is the rough list: Jim Muncy - Since parts of aeronautics at NASA are "shutting down", could we task those employees with something thus turning into something like NACA. George Whitesides - Pricing? Henry Vanderbilt - 1) an adhoc unit to stop bad things when they come up 2) as far as the one thing to do that we all agree on, we should pick something with a high degree of success so we have to successes instead of overreaching on our 2nd attempt. |

Don't Let Vendors Mislead You About Networking Speeds. (May 01 2005 14:59 GMT) - Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics By CJ Rhoads It Started with a Webcast on Infrastructure Although I'm not as old as Mark Twain was when he colored "Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics" with the same brush, this phrase sprung to my mind as I sat through a webcast recently. If you haven't had the pleasure yet, a webcast is like a telecast (that is - like a television show) but it is sent out over the Internet instead of the television cable or satellite. While a television show may cost thousands or millions to put on tv, a web cast can be done much more inexpensively - making it a viable alternative for smaller audiences. It is a common method for technology companies to inform potential buyers about different technologies. I signed up for this webcast because it promised to reveal which infrastructure standards are in use in business today. |

Newgenlook - Porn Pop-Up Adware Virus Thingy (May 01 2005 14:57 GMT) - I know there's plenty of websites/forums "out there" that may have a potential fix for this problem, but my brother's PC seems to permanently banjaxed with this Newgenlook issue. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience of this - and a sure fire way of removing it? (The biggest issue apperently is deleting some of the .dll files - particularly the 'param32.dll' file just doesn't want to go). |

Quality Of Life (May 01 2005 14:57 GMT) - As I’ve been involved in the debate over abortion in this country, I’ve come to understand more and more the wisdom in using the phrase “Sanctity of Life”. Such is a phrase that describes my view of life in this world. |
