- Today is the final mission for the UK's Skylark rocket, the 441st and final mission was dubbed Maser 10. The Skylark rockets were capable of sending experiments to heights of 250km, where the payload can experience weightlessness for up to 6 minutes. Since the late 50s the UK has been launching science experiments into space using the relatively small Skylark rocket. The Skylark program was cancelled in the 70s, and moved to private companies, who used a stock of Skylark engines that were on hand. The final mission for the Skylark will be it's 441st since the program began in 1955. |
