Han Solo Trilogy - Star Wars Novels (May 04 2005 10:59 GMT) - Our library has a little second-hand bookstore connected to it and I stop there just about every time I'm in the area, just in case they have something I want. Today I got all three books in the Han Solo Trilogy at just $1.50 each. The Paradise Snare takes place about 10 years before the Battle Of Yavin (or about 10 years after the events in Revenge of the Sith). The Hutt Gambit occurs 5-2 years before Yavin and Rebel Dawn takes place immediately before Han meets Luke and Obi Wan. |

Your Letters and More (May 04 2005 10:58 GMT) - ON WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY Jeff Waggoner writes: "I find it interesting that we want to honor the few who have died covering wars today, when I think we should be praying, instead, for the multitude of journalists who have joined the profession as a way to toady to the rich and famous. "Witness the orgy of platitudes for Laura Bush who parroted a few mildly humorous jokes, undoubtedly written by a highly paid 'humor consultant,' in front of a bejeweled audience of media sycophant/celebrities, vying to see who could fall off their chairs hardest and fastest as proof that their 'objectivity' toward this administration. "This display went way beyond simple courtesy. It made the nightly news on ... |

Best result for UK tomorrow is........ [Kevin Hardern] (May 04 2005 10:58 GMT) - I happen to think it would be a Labour win with about 20 majority. I am not a Labour supporter, and am not at all in favour of Tony, let alone Gordon, continuing in office really. However, I think it would be the best result in the long term interests of the country as they will be totally found out in the next 5 years, but with a low majority, would be more accountable to parliament, so could not continue with the rate of destruction and state control over our lives that we have seen over the past 5 years. If they actually lost, whoever took over would not have time to change things in one term, so they would be back, even stronger, in four years. What are your views? |

HRIS and Payroll Vendors Combine to Fill Market Void (May 04 2005 10:57 GMT) - Combined product offers ERP like functionality, but faster implmentaiton and significantly lower total cost of ownership. While many payroll vendors have recently added HR capabilities to increase marketability, customers have been getting the short end of the stick. The new company is designed to fill a void left by the absorption of PeopleSoft by Oracle, and in the HR marketplace in general - the lack of a comprehensive payroll offering, tightly integrated with extensive HR functionality, at a lower price point than currently offered.
