- I feel like I'm falling apart. I can't entirely put it into words, and in my current mental state I may not be evaluating myself correctly, but right now it feels to me that I have no control dealing with everything the external world is throwing at me (coping with the aftermath of the fire) and I'm correspondingly losing emotional control. I'm keeping my head at work, but in the evenings I've been getting both snappish at Ian and weepy, and sometimes both at once. I think one complication is that this hotel room is smaller and more isolated than our apartment, so I really haven't had any alone time in ages. I'm at work during the days, and if one of us goes out for the evening, either the other comes along or is stuck isolated at the hotel. |

- The focus of both the mobile operators and the recording industry on the ringtone market is becoming increasingly silly, as they all seem to think that the inflated prices people are paying for just snippets of music is somehow sustainable. At least some people are recognizing that the market has to change. Famed musician Thomas Dolby Robertson, who has been making news lately for his involvement with the ringtone market, is pointing out that both the recording industry and mobile operators would probably be better off recognizing that ringtones are promotional and giving them away for free. It certainly sounds like more people are recognizing that free is often quite good for markets. |

- Sam Ruby likes/uses Ubuntu too. I've been using Ubuntu as my main OS for a few weeks now, and I'm not going back to Windows. I haven't even booted Windows up in a few weeks. For a bunch of people Ubuntu seems to be the first Linux distribution that really hits some kind of sweet spot that gets us to make the switch. |
