BT Broadband - problems sending emails [Gordon Oakley] (May 05 2005 12:59 GMT) - Are there any other BT Broadband customers here experiencing problems since this morning sending emails? I've been a BT Broadband customer for over a year and apart from a couple of glitches it's worked ok. Now, today, I find I can receive emails ok but I can't send any. They just sit there in my Outlook Outbox. Apparently, (after hanging on the phone for what seemed like hours to the BT Broadband Mail help desk and then being given another number to call BY Broadband Internet help desk for another long wait), it's because I now need a BT email account. |

I'm glad Britain's voting system is so primitive [Chris Worth] (May 05 2005 12:59 GMT) - There's something very satisfying about a national election in one of the world's top countries that still involves paper and pencils. Although I'm interested in politics, due to my years overseas today is the first time I've voted in a British General Election. And the solidity of putting pencil to paper on a simply-designed form made me feel, instinctively, that my vote WOULD be recorded, and short of the ballot box being stuffed or stolen, the number of ways to hack this system is quite small. |

(May 05 2005 12:57 GMT) - [Meerkat: An Open Wire Service] - You can imagine your in-car tracking computer always speaking to you in a faux British accent, like a tiny robot Mr. Belvedere, would be pretty annoying.
