Market Star: Is it me or is there [Ngaire Takano] (May 07 2005 23:53 GMT) - more "offered" services than "wanted" services on the new blue star? It also seems that more "offers" of work positions etc which, correct me if I am wrong should be in the Recruitment section of Ecademy? Vonage - Just tested 911...address not showing up!!! (May 07 2005 23:52 GMT) - I believe you're confusing Caller ID with the call to your local PSAP which is NOT E-911. You should do a little reading as reebok suggests. E-911 is coming. However, E-911 is a function exclusive to your local PSTN. Negotiations are in progress to produce an interface between Vonage servers and the PSTN that have agreed to comply, but they will still not give away the secret of their 3 digit calling sequence so a special program must be devised. |

An inspiration to fake democracies throughout the world (May 07 2005 23:52 GMT) - By way of praktike, I've learned that Egypt's supposed baby steps toward democracy have been revealed as a bad joke, just as many non-Bush-worshiping observers suspected/feared. To quote from Josh Stacher, an American in Egypt to whom praktike links: This morning al-Ahram published the full text of the draft legislation to amend article 76 of the constitution in order to allow multi-candidacy, direct election for the Egyptian presidency. The draft outlines the conditions for potential candidates ahead of September?s election. |

The Google Web Accelerator (May 07 2005 23:51 GMT) - If the software is not suitable for dial-up users, why does it even exist? Broadband users don't care about a few minutes saved in a day considering all the con's that have already been mentioned. |

Choir Performance (May 07 2005 23:50 GMT) - Its been a long time since my last piano performance and it felt quite strange tonight when I performed the piano with the Edmonton Melody Choir Club at the UofA Convocation Hall. But I got through it with no significant errors...as always :) This choir is also quite different from the other chinese choirs in Edmonton. Their conductor, Wing Lee Chen, is quite an accomplished musician and conductor and arranged the score to include drums, synthesizers and other midi sounds to give the folk songs a contemporary sound. |
