Awake, alive, and ... transported! Request for good links on violence victims' advocates. (Jun 18 2005 23:59 GMT) - V is catsitting in Brooklyn for a week. I pick her up, um, sometime on Monday the 27th instead of tomorrow. Blogging resources for victims' advocates (domestic violence, sexual abuse, violent crime, etc.) got any good links? V's doing a presentation on journal writing in the context of victims' advocacy, and wants to include a few good links in her lecture. |

A glimmer of sanity from Congress (Jun 18 2005 23:58 GMT) - For the first time in years, the House of Representatives has done something worthy. They've passed an amendment (to a spending bill) which curbs a couple of the Patriot Act's many erosions of civil liberties. Summer Solstice service (Jun 18 2005 23:57 GMT) - My UU congregation is having a Summer Solstice service tomorrow morning, led by phoenix_glow. We had a run-through last night, and although it was a bit rocky, I think it will go fine tomorrow. French Frye (Jun 18 2005 23:56 GMT) - Someone campaigning for Donna Frye, the latest and very tired mayoral race in San Diego, showed up on my doorstep earlier. "Don't even bother," I said. "But, don't you want to hear how Donna Frye is going to save San Diego?" he asked in earnest. "She's a big part of the problem, dude! |

user experience (Jun 18 2005 23:56 GMT) - To the Apple Store today, to consult with a Genius. My iBook continues to act wonky — weird trackpad action that seems attributable to the combined effects of disk use (ie, heat) and pressure (as I rest my wrists and hands on the assigned space). The case warps ever so slightly, and that makes the [...] |
