N Korea negotiations turn stormy (Jul 31 2005 16:59 GMT) - The US says China's proposals are a basis for an agreement. Negotiators are reported to have had heated exchanges on the sixth day of six-party talks in Beijing on North Korea's nuclear weapons programme. One delegate said fierce clashes occurred as the negotiating teams tried to hammer out an agreement on a statement of basic principles. The parties failed to agree on a final statement during three previous rounds of talks in Beijing. The two Koreas, the US, China, Russia and Japan are represented at the talks. |

Blogger News Item (Jul 31 2005 16:59 GMT) - I mean, what IS going on over there? The British government has quietly instituted a shoot-to-kill policy. Thankfully many are fighting back. It emerged yesterday that the Met's guidelines for confronting bombers allow armed police, in some cases, to fire a 'critical headshot' without even challenging the individual to stop, if it is feared an explosion is imminent. Until now, it has been assumed that suspects would be given a chance to surrender. |

Michael Jackson: King of Pop Turned Jester? (Jul 31 2005 16:58 GMT) - US fans shun Michael Jackson CD. 8,000 copies of a Greatest Hits album for Michael Jackson? OUCH! A decent band working a local club circuit can generate those kinds of numbers with a cover album, so Michael and his people must be beside themselves over numbers like those. That's not even close to enough to cover the manufacture and distribution of the CDs... |

Vonage VoIP - Using Port Triggering Instead of Port Forwarding ? (Jul 31 2005 16:58 GMT) - I'm using a Linksys WRT54G router with a Linksys PAP2 ATA. It took me a while to get it working, and what I ended up doing was assigning static IP and gateway addresses to the ATA then forwarding ports 10000-20000 to it. I'm not sure why I didn't have to forward the other ports but it works anyway. What I want to know is, can I use port triggering instead of forwarding? I really don't want to leave 10000 ports open all the time. |

Sailing on the High Seas (Jul 31 2005 16:58 GMT) - Thomas and I went sailing with the Atlanta Outdoor Club this weekend. The Barefoot Sailing Club of Lake Lanier volunteered to take us out to teach us about sailing. I've posted some of my photos from the trip to my gallery: Sailing on Lake Lanier Thomas and I started out on a 22ft racing catalina, but we came back on a 32ft cruiser. We got to try steering and pulling in the sails on both, but I prefered the cruiser much more. |
