Its been a bit quiet... (Aug 14 2005 23:58 GMT) - It's been a bit of a quiet weekend. Little news of interest to post about and no wines tasted (at Galdstone Terrace at any rate; but plenty to come during the week). We are still waiting for the latest EOMEOTE write-up and there are the remaining parcel reports - goodies sent out as part of the EBBP (Euro Blogging By Mail) event still to come in. I haven't just been siting on my arse eating cheesecake though - the Scribblings website has been given a meticulous tidy as I had not realised how much was broken since moving to the new servers. |

Shameless Self Promotion (Aug 14 2005 23:57 GMT) - Threadless.com is a site where users submit t-shirt designs and other users vote on them. Then certain ones get printed and sold. I finally got around to making one, so I figured I'd post something here. This shirt was designed for for a minicontest they are having in conjunction with Beyondthepit. |

Kids Today (Aug 14 2005 23:55 GMT) - I wasn’t gonna post any more this evening, but we just got home and I had a sort of positive story I wanted to tell. This afternoon, we went to a pool party/cook-out for gay dads and their families. Most of the kids there were the eight-and-under set, except for three teenagers. Two were, a boy [... |

Inclusiveness is a four-letter word (Aug 14 2005 23:55 GMT) - Whoa, you're losing me here -- a priest, a rabbi, and who else go into the bar? From the Washington Post this evening: Several key issues remained unresolved on the eve of a deadline for a draft of Iraq's new constitution, politicians involved in the discussion said Sunday, increasing the prospect that the document will not be completed on time. Leaders of the country's dominant Shiite political party, the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), skipped a late-night meeting with Kurdish officials at the headquarters of Shiite Prime Minister Ibrahim Jafari, rendering the meeting little more than an informal get-together, according to Mahmoud Othman, a Kurdish member of the committee charged with writing the constitution. "Because they were not there it was basically just a quick chat. |

Salt, Salt, Salt. Gotta have more salt! (Aug 14 2005 23:55 GMT) - So a few months back, my wife and I invested in a water conditioning system for a few thousand dollars. After the first month, we were supposed to replenish the main system with salt pellets of some kind. I had been keeping my eyes open for these pellets while shopping. Sometimes I've actively looked for the pellets first before I did my shopping if I wasn't pressed for time. I would look near water filtration systems. |

Weekend Getaway (Aug 14 2005 23:54 GMT) - I'm heading to my cousin's place in Pt. Pleasant on the New Jersey Shore for the weekend. Will hang out on the beach, eat fried oreos on the boardwalk and sit on my dad's bench. I didn't get to go last summer, so I'm really looking forward to it. I can smell the cotton candy and salty smelling wood planks already. |
