EFF: The DMCA Is Failing Consumers (Dec 01 2005 23:58 GMT) - December 1 is the last day to submit proposals (by 5p EST) to the Copyright Office seeking a 3-year DMCA exemption for noninfringing activities that are otherwise squelched by "digital rights management" (DRM) restrictions. As we mentioned back in October, Congress has instructed the U.S. Copyright Office to consider every three years whether we need temporary exemptions to the DMCA's blanket ban on circumventing "technological protection measures" (aka DRM) used to lock up copyrighted works. |

Adam Curry Caught in Sticky Wiki (Dec 01 2005 23:57 GMT) - Former MTV veejay and podcasting entrepreneur Adam Curry appears to have been caught anonymously editing the podcasting entry on Wikipedia to remove credit from other people and inflate his role in its creation. When someone edits Wikipedia without logging in to a user account, the IP address is recorded to guard against abuse. Four times this year, an IP address controlled by Curry has made revisions involving the early history of podcasting.
