Vonage VoIP - Sudden death of RT31P2??? (Dec 03 2005 11:42 GMT) - The possibility of getting 4 defective routers is remote in the extreme. 2, or even 3, I could see [i:6bdbc71073]maybe[/i:6bdbc71 Are you doing something wacky that you aren't telling us, like connecting to your home wiring without having disconnected the Demarc point first? Continually replacing routers is not a very good solution. |

Vonage VoIP - Outgoing Caller ID shows random New Jersey number (Dec 03 2005 11:42 GMT) - Is anyone having their outgoing calls, or outgoing sim-ring calls, show a random New Jersey number instead of the proper Calling number or Vonage number? I am getting this on around 20% of my calls. All outgoing calls are to the Toronto area (NPA 416 and 905) When will Vonage be fixing this? |

Vonage VoIP - Telemarketers and Vonage (Dec 03 2005 11:42 GMT) - I think that having 911 service is important, but the government needs to update their systems to meet the standards of todays comunication, not expect providers to 'dumb down' their services so that we can reach emergency services. ACR is a system that is readily available for Vonage to impiment, but they are devoting all of their resources to E-911. To say that E-911 can't be spoofed is a lie as well. There are several people on these forums that can't get E-911 service because their area hasn't been mapped yet. Also, it takes them long amounts of time to update your information. |

Vonage VoIP - Need help with WRT54GS QoS Clarification (Dec 03 2005 11:42 GMT) - Well, at least I can say I tried. WRTHyper + Thibor gave me the exact same sound quality as what I had with the Linksys fw. I like the advanced options though! I wonder if its me being picky for it not being perfect, but it is a noticeable thing when I am on the phone with someone. Guess I'll have to keep trying to figure out an alternative... |

Vonage VoIP - Telemarketers and Vonage (Dec 03 2005 11:42 GMT) - I work in a call centre environment, and even there, the telemarketers among us are looked down upon. I wish that vonage would take care of this issue! ACR needs to be implimented, and in my opinion is more important than E-911 by a long shot. Are you serious? ACR can be spoofed, E911 can't... |

Vonage VoIP - Free Softphone Would Be A Great Selling Point (Dec 03 2005 11:42 GMT) - I was just sitting here playing with the new version of Skype 2.0 when I thought about how Vonage would benefit from some sorta software like this. I was reading an article about Skype killing Vonage in the future. It just may do that with the skype phones you can buy and the versitility of the product. Vonage needs to not charge for their softphone and use that as a marketing scheme. |

Vonage VoIP - Need help with WRT54GS QoS Clarification (Dec 03 2005 11:42 GMT) - If you connect direct to Comcast, then QoS should not be an issue at all because the Vonage device should be the ONLY thing talking at ALL. If your ENTIRE Internet connection still gives you bad calls, then you need to call Comcast. Clarification Vonage + Comcast ALONE = perfect Comcast -> Vonage -& |

Vonage VoIP - Need help with WRT54GS QoS Clarification (Dec 03 2005 11:42 GMT) - The direct connect of Vonage to Comcast is horrible compared to QoS with the Linksys. Something is terribly wrong here. If you connect direct to Comcast, then QoS should not be an issue at all because the Vonage device should be the ONLY thing talking at ALL. If your ENTIRE Internet connection still gives you bad calls, then you need to call Comcast. Especially with the high quality numbers you are getting from speed tests. |

Vonage VoIP - Need help with WRT54GS QoS Clarification (Dec 03 2005 11:42 GMT) - Of all of the meters I have tried so far, Line Speed Meter V3.0 is the most accurate... I just downloaded it and tried it out. Nice stuff. I'll leave it running once every 1/2 hour or so for a few days and see what my connections say. |
