Omnivorous Opportunists (Dec 05 2005 11:59 GMT) - We talked in class on Friday last about 'relationships within plant and animal communities' including parastism and predation. Somewhere in my browsing, I came across this surprising image of a typical gray squirrel who had decided to pick up something different for a snack. No sir, for lunch today, why not pick up something without a tough outer husk. Nuts to nuts--let's do barbeque bird! Of course we don't know if he found this bird dead or dying (which I told the class was likely, as squirrels are not terribly well adapted at prey capture. |

wizzbang (Dec 05 2005 11:58 GMT) - A kind reader has nominated petite anglaise as Best European Blog in the Wizzbang Weblog Awards for 2005. Does your Project Manager believe in your Business Case [Cathryn Symons] (Dec 05 2005 11:58 GMT) - One of the most fundamental ideas of good project management practice is to have an agreed business case that shows why the organisation is undertaking the project, and the benefits which are expected from it. Many companies have reasonably good methods for ensuring that a business case is well understood and agreed by those who are sponsoring it before the project starts. One key stakeholder to the project is often forgotten in this process, and that is the Project Manager. The best projects I've ever run have been the ones where I, personally, have felt a strong degree of buy-in to the business case. That does not mean that I've necessarily expected to make a lot of money or see a lot of personal benefit, just that I can see very clearly why the business wants to do the project, and believe that the benefits are realistic. |
