DirectTV to Pay $5.4M in Privacy Fines (Dec 13 2005 20:48 GMT) - abscissa writes "Remember the do-not-call registry? DirecTV is in big trouble for violating the list, and faces the largest civil assessment ever obtained of $5.4M for harassing people over the phone at home and ignoring the registry. Although it looks like DirecTV was outsourcing all their telemarketing (obviously), the FTC recieved 1.4 million complaints, the biggest category of do-not-call violations ever recieved. |

Send completed form as PDF via email? (Dec 13 2005 20:47 GMT) - I'm trying to figure out how to take HTML web form data a user enters and populate a PDF that is then emailed back to me. Problem is that I have limited coding knowledge and limited time. The form has already been designed and currently emails the data in a simple text format using the free FormMail script. That was easy. Ideally I could utilize the existing form and just point it at a P ... |

1" Coil spacer questions.... (Dec 13 2005 20:46 GMT) - I'm looking at getting some 1" Daystar coil spacers for my 3500 to help level it and to keep the nose up a bit when the snow plow is on it. I have Rancho 9000's on it and really don't care to replace them. These shocks are a very short stroke and I don't want to be stuck with shocks that are too short. I really don't need or want a 2" |

Do TV stations 'get it' yet? (Dec 13 2005 20:46 GMT) - I have to post this comment written by "Rocker" (a TV web insider) referring to Broadcasting & Cable's cover story this week about local TV stations' efforts to expand online. He writes, "In fact, for 90% of the people in a typical TV station building, this whole 'internet thing' is something they're still in their heart-of-hearts hoping will go away, or at least be handled by 'somebody else' at the station. Maybe the web-geek or two we have off in that old converted closet downstairs will take care of it all, so we can continue to pretend the world revolves around producing a series of OTO 'shows' every day. The consciousness level is rising, but at a rate that is so slow that I still really think it's a race to see whether most TV stations will survive. The ad marketplace is reaching an inflection point fairly soon now, and from a pure bottom line perspective, this industry is not ready. |

More on Ford: Business, Bigotry, and the Lack of Balls (Dec 13 2005 20:45 GMT) - Last week, we reported that Ford Motor Co. is in boiling-hot water with the gay community. The reason: the company's announcement that it is pulling its Land Rover and Jaguar advertising from GLBT publications, stripping gay-specific content from its Volvo ads and curtailing its future participation in and support of gay-related events and organizations. The move, seen by many as a slap in the face to GLBT car customers, came after a threatened boycott by - and a reportedly secret agreement with - the right-wing, anti-gay American Family Association, which opposes any support, corporate or otherwise, of gay and lesbian people. |
