Nebraska AD unveils plan for '06 stadium expansion (Dec 14 2005 02:25 GMT) - The old joke goes – “When the Cornhuskers play a home football game on Saturday - Memorial Stadium is the third largest city in Nebraska”. Well, Nebraska's monstrous Memorial Stadium is getting bigger. Athletic Director Steve Peterson unveiled the plans for the 2006 stadium expansion, which will include 6,000 more seats, and which lucky Nebraska fans will have a chance to buy season tickets in those new seats. More from the Lincoln Journal-Star The stadium expansion, which includes 12 new skyboxes, will push Memorial Stadium’s capacity to more than 80,000 beginning in the 2006 season. Pederson said he expects demand for the new tickets to be high and isn’t concerned about Nebraska’s NCAA-record sellout streak of 275 games being put in jeopardy. |

Prisoner rights talk at Info Shop (Dec 14 2005 02:24 GMT) - On the evening of December 10th, 2005 a forum was held at Paper Street Info Shop in Richmond to discuss the condition of the prison system in the United States. A racially diverse crowd of about 30 people were in attendance. Earlier in the day a group of protestors gathered outside the Richmond City Jail to bring attention to abhorrent and unsafe conditions that the inmates are forced to endure. Both of these events were part of International Human Rights Day. Several activists, some local some not, discussed the current state of prisons in Virginia and abroad. |
