- Well, the JPY certainly can put on a show sometimes as we're seeing a 250-pip range (and counting!) developing today - as USD/JPY crumbled further on the horrific US trade data. We had no special expectations for this number, but no doubt about it - this is a number that really makes our "global imbalance" theme candidate look like a very valid one. There must be a lot of USD longs that are getting nervous here as we talked about excessively high USD sentiment not so long ago - and the whole carry crowd is feeling the squeeze as well as both CHF and JPY make inroads. This "reverse carry theme" may have lots more fuel if we see EUR/JPY back below 141. |
