India's Polaris moves to .Net (Dec 14 2005 15:59 GMT) - (InfoWorld) - Polaris Software Lab has brought out a new software module within its financials services suite that is its first to utilize the .Net platform and SQL Server database from Microsoft. Previously, the Chennai, India, software and services vendor built its banking suite, Intellect, around Java Enterprise Edition with Oracle's database. Some of Polaris' customers want to use Microsoft technologies on more cost-effective Intel-architecture computers, said Koen van Den Brande, chief technology officer of Polaris. The company's new customer delinquency management system, called Collect. |

Virgin Galactic to build $225M spaceport; new logo = Branson's eye (Dec 14 2005 15:59 GMT) - Xeni Jardin: Sir Richard Branson and co. have announced plans for a $225 million dollar spaceport in New Mexico for the Virgin Galactic fleet. Virgin Galactic also revealed that up to 38,000 people from 126 countries have paid a deposit for a seat on one of its manned commercial flights, including a core group of 100 "founders" who have paid the initial $200,000 cost of a flight upfront. Virgin Galactic is planning to begin flights in late 2008 or early 2009. |
