Plasma Engine Passes Test (Dec 14 2005 19:45 GMT) - Deep Space here we come. I have to admit, I am a little bit of a Star Trek and Babylon 5 fan, and the fact that we are getting closer and closer to faster and more efficient forms of space propulsion really gets my Geek going. BBC News has an article about a Plasma Engine that has recently passed initial testing. The European Space Agency (Esa) says initial testing of a new plasma drive for spacecraft has been a success. The 'double layer thruster' is a new kind of ion drive which could give much more power than existing versions. |

Listen to your iPod on a new Boomtube (Dec 14 2005 19:44 GMT) - Think Outside Inc. today announced availability of its Boomtube H2O1, an iPod or other digital music player accessory speaker system with 40 watts, an integrated subwoofer, detachable satellites and an internal rechargeable lithium ion battery with up to five hours of life. The $199 Boomtube H2O1 has a tubular design with aluminum finish, and incorporates a bass tube and twist-off speakers. The 2-inch aluminum speakers reproduce sound at the mid- and high ranges, Think Outside says. The system also has two bass drivers with MaxBass technology for the lower frequency bass reproduction, the company adds. |
