Distorted Perceptions (Dec 20 2005 03:53 GMT) - Often, in being dishonest about our own faults and failures, we have been far too insensitive and callous toward others who have fallen short. It is really unfair to others because all human judgment is partial, one-sided, and superficial. When we judge others, we must realize that we are also judging ourselves. When we judge another, we are focusing on what is wrong with someone else in an attempt to shield or take the inner spotlight off of what is wrong with us. A friend was sharing with me the other day how far God has brought Him over the years. |

IN HIS NAME (Dec 20 2005 03:53 GMT) - There are times that a person will identify him or herself as being a member of a given group for a variety of reasons. When the individual does this as part of a business the reason is obvious. It is because it is to increase the appeal of whatever is being sold. To do so by emphasizing one is a Christian I think often is intended to suggest that by doing business with them you are assured they will follow a stricter standard of honesty and ethics. While I'm sure there are some for which this is true, in my experience I haven't found that to be the case. |

Border Patrol fears conflict with Mexican military (Dec 20 2005 03:53 GMT) - Here is more on the out of control boarder to our south. This article confirms what many of us have thought for some time. Border Patrol agents stationed along the nation's southwestern frontier increasingly are fearful of encountering armed and potentially hostile military units from Mexico. Also, agents say, officers are hamstrung in their response, citing concerns the U.S. |

Interesting Quotes (Dec 20 2005 03:53 GMT) - "The educational bureaucracy expects the state to accommodate every possible bizarre cultural mutation and lifestyle, but finds prayer at graduation an intolerable and fatal compromise of state neutrality toward religion." (Lapin. Ibid. p. 160) "What is clear to me is that by removing religious references from the classroom, an anti-Judeo-Christian religion has taken its place. |

Doesn't get more fun than this (Dec 20 2005 03:53 GMT) - Yes, since I'm responsible for the "pool" laptops that are available to our attorneys for use outside of the office, and since they're all Dells, I spent a good part of my Monday checking for laptop battery recalls. Yippee for me! I've gotten through about half the laptops we have and haven't found one yet which the website tells me anything but "replacement not required". I guess that's a good thing, wouldn't want one to catch fire in the middle of a deposition, would we? : |
