D'Backs dealing Glaus? (Dec 20 2005 15:59 GMT) - I think there's a decent chance that D'Backs 3B Troy Glaus will be dealt, though by no means a sure thing. As for the Indians, from my understanding they are more interested in acquiring an outfielder rather than a corner... |

Sorry, CharlieTicket (Dec 20 2005 15:57 GMT) - The MBTA thinks CharlieTickets will help increase revenue and so is rushing to get them into use. Pelican thinks the T has its priorities screwed up: ... I don't care how easy the CharlieTicket will be. Ridership will not increase if the T doesn't run on time, has incomprehensible signage, has unhelpful employees, and has stations that are dark and dangerous. |

MTA vs. TWU: A Battle of Greed (Dec 20 2005 15:56 GMT) - As the bite of the winter wind blows across the faces of New Yorkers this morning on December 20, 2005, it will not be because of a passing subway train or a public bus. No, the chill they feel as they are forced to walk over bridges to get to work is the colossal greed shared in a contract struggle by the Metropolitan Transit Authority and the Transport Workers Union. This morning, the TWU went on strike after talks for a new contract broke down once again with the MTA late last night. The TWU workers, also known as the operators of the NYC Subway and Metro Bus drivers, left their posts and have sent the city's morning commute into a state of disorder. As a worker in midtown Manhattan, I got to see first hand what chaos these two organizations can inflict on the city. |
