Bush's Potemkin Court (Dec 21 2005 15:48 GMT) - Washington Post reports that a federal judge has resigned from the court that oversees government surveillance in intelligence cases in protest of President Bush's secret authorization of a domestic spying program. FISA court Presiding Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly was briefed by the administration and raised concerns in 2004 about warrantless NSA surveillance. "They just don't know if the product of wiretaps were used for FISA warrants -- to kind of cleanse the information," said one source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the classified nature of the FISA warrants. |

(Dec 21 2005 15:46 GMT) - The people who own this house on Hyde Park Avenue (near West Street) go all out for pretty much every holiday, from July 4th to, of course, Christmas. I can't help but wondering why the doggy in the lower right is so sad (maybe it's because he really wanted me to include the giant illuminated train with the turning wheels on the fence opposite him, but I just couldn't get both him and the train in the photo, not without getting hit by a bus on Hyde Park Avenue). Earlier: Anybody got a pin for those giant inflatable Xmas things?
