Rockefeller and Pelosi COULDN'T Release Their Letters (Dec 22 2005 00:56 GMT) - It appears that one of the GOP talking points on the domestic spying scandal is to denigrate and even ridicule Jay Rockefeller's and Nancy Pelosi's letters to the White House protesting the spying policy divulged to them in classified meetings. This morning on NPR I heard GOP Representative Peter Hokestra claim that if Senator Rockefeller was really concerned about the domestic spying program revealed last week by the NYT, then he could have done more than write a letter. Bullshit. |

PA-Sen: Santorum all over the place on "intelligent design" (Dec 22 2005 00:56 GMT) - Rick Santorum, Washington Times op-ed, March 14, 2002: [I]ntelligent design is a legitimate scientific theory that should be taught in science classes. At the beginning of the year, President Bush signed into law the "No Child Left Behind" bill. The new law includes a science education provision where Congress states that "where topics are taught that may generate controversy (such as biological evolution), the curriculum should help students to understand the full range of scientific views that exist." If the Education Board of Ohio does not include intelligent design in the new teaching standards, many students will be denied a first-rate science education. |

But when I start my machine up, from the point of the boot screen to when my desktop is fully active (everything has loaded) around five minutes have gone by. This isn't all, my computer is extremely slow even at opening up wordpad. However, I put it into sleep mode, wake it up 20 seconds after and it's as good as normal (fast ). Could anyone explain this strange problem? |
