Instant Messengers Choose Sides. (Dec 22 2005 02:57 GMT) - eWeek: Instant Messengers Choose Sides. "Integrating Google Talk and AIM will be done in a roundabout way, mostly to keep AOL and Google from exposing the valuable profile information customers must first provide to sign up. In essence, the two IM networks will not be connected. Rather, Google's Google Talk users must first sign up for an AIM account and screen name. |

What's The Deal With "Cosmo"? (Dec 22 2005 02:56 GMT) - Does anyone know how Kramer was assigned the first name of Cosmo? Santa Chris Delivers Gifts to Believers (Dec 22 2005 02:55 GMT) - Santa Chris had to make some difficult decisions recently (which would explain why he’s a few days late). I received thousands of submissions, and each one of them was fun to read - if only to see what everybody was hoping to see this holiday season. The gift recipients this year are, in my opinion, quite deserving. I only wish I could give more (to more of you). |

Forex Daily Analysis 12-22-05 (Dec 22 2005 02:55 GMT) - EUR bears are in control of the market as they penetrate a 4 hour up trendline moving below a sell zone, and head to the most outer uptrendline. The latest AB Boundry is to the southside, meaning that our bearish mentality will continue as long as the EUR respects the resistances placed 1.1850 and 1.1910, values that should hold for the day. Next supports to be hit are 1. |

Bill Fletcher, Jr., "My Vote Goes to the NYC Transit Workers!" (Dec 22 2005 02:55 GMT) - I don't know how or when the New York City Transit Strike will end. It may even end prior to your reading this column. The point is that the members of Transport Workers Union, Local 100 -- the men and women who run New York City's public transportation -- deserve our support. The strike that truly commenced on Tuesday, December 20, 2005, is a strike against the notion of New York being the Emerald City. It is a strike of workers who are insisting that they, as working people, have the right to work AND live in the City of New York. |

Troubleshoot an iPod with a folder icon (Dec 22 2005 02:55 GMT) - [The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)] - Filed under: iPod Family, Software, Software Update, TroubleshootingFrom time to time I've seen an iPod stop operating and display nothing but a folder icon - definitely not a happy sign. With the holidays fast approaching, I thought it'd be a good idea to offer the iPod owners and soon-to-be-owners a refresher link to Apple's support document on this problem, in case this issue crops up with a shiny new iPod just snatched from under the tree.To summarize, the moral of the document is: make sure you install the proper and latest iPod software using orthodox tools and methods. |

Good compression settings for iPod videos (Dec 22 2005 02:55 GMT) - [The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)] - Filed under: iPod Family, Video, Tips and tricksI've been tinkering with compression settings on videos, trying to find the best balance of size, quality, compression settings and compatibility for my video-capable iPod ever since the beginning of November. H.264 is very nice and cool, but it takes forever and a day to compress using QuickTime Pro's export to iPod option. Since I'm not really interested in projecting my videos in large on the wall via an HD-capable projector, there's no need to pick it over MPEG-4. |

Polar Bears: 1, Ted Stevens: Bupkis - Senate Blocks Drilling in Alaska (Dec 22 2005 02:54 GMT) - Republicans efforts to slide through the trashing of the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge by tacking it onto the popular defense spending bill that allocates money for Iraq troops and victims of Hurricane Katrina failed today when the Senate RJ'd the plan, effectively tying up $450 billion bucks.
