Dennis Lillee urges selectors to axe Andrew Symonds (Dec 22 2005 22:53 GMT) - Maybe it's just cause he's saying what I want to hear but I'm a big fan of Dennis Lillee urging the selectors to drop Andrew Symonds before the Ashes. He also things Glenn McGrath is on the wane and our openers will be exposed by the English pace attack. Fortunately the latter point is being addressed thanks to Justin Langer's injury - with luck, he'll be out for the rest of the series giving Phil Jacques a great opportunity to be blooded at Test level. He's got a point about McGrath who seemed flat in Perth and does seem to be on the verge of collapsing to an injury at any moment. He injured his knee in England when driving a car, for goodness sake! |

Shane Warne still targets Justin Kemp as the new Daryll Cullinan (Dec 22 2005 22:53 GMT) - You would've thought he'd learnt his lesson after the 1st Test but Shane Warne still thinks Justin Kemp might be the new Daryll Cullinan. He really wants another bunny! Although Kemp batted him into the ground on Day 5, the stiffness and soreness in his shoulder from an entire day of bowling must've worn off as Warne is back in the media, chirping away. Now I'm a big fan of Warnie sledging batsmen but in this case, you get the feeling he's just giving motivation to the batsman. He also had a go at Graeme Smith, claiming he doesn't have imagination as a captain. |

Yahoo! Open Shortcuts (Dec 22 2005 22:53 GMT) - As a method of bookmarking, Yahoo! new Open Shortcut system seems a little useless. You can use a shortcut to simply store a plain URL, and navigate to that site from any Yahoo! search box. But who doesn't already have enough bookmarking solutions? |

That Blur? It's China, Moving Up in the Pack (Dec 22 2005 22:52 GMT) - Many economists have long suspected that official government statistics here provided only a shadow of reality. With China's announcement on Tuesday that its economy was considerably bigger than previously estimated, economists and financial prognosticators are scrambling to rethink their assessment of China's rise and its role on the world stage. China's new figures suggest that it probably has passed France, Italy and Britain to become the world's fourth-largest economy. Some economists are even accelerating their timetables for when China may eclipse the United States as the world's biggest economy. With the new figures offering a more expansive view of economic activity, some said China could overtake the United States as early as 2035, at least five years earlier than previous projections. |

Britain will be first country to monitor every car journey (Dec 22 2005 22:52 GMT) - Britain is to become the first country in the world where the movements of all vehicles on the roads are recorded. A new national surveillance system will hold the records for at least two years. Using a network of cameras that can automatically read every passing number plate, the plan is to build a huge database of vehicle movements so that the police and security services can analyse any journey a driver has made over several years.--Link (Direct) - Link (Reputation Tracking) - Discuss [2] - Reply - Recommend |

The Impact of Emerging Technologies: The Internet Is Broken (Dec 22 2005 22:52 GMT) - Today, Clark believes the elephants are upon us. Yes, the Internet has wrought wonders: e-commerce has flourished, and e-mail has become a ubiquitous means of communication.
