Celebrity Cellars Star Tribute Wine Bottles (Dec 22 2005 22:51 GMT) - Celebrity Cellars is a California based company specializing in limited edition celebrity wine bottles. Celebrity Cellars make some dubious claims such as "considered by serious collectors to be an important investment" and "hand-painted bottles" but for fans of Madonna or the Rolling Stones it would make a nice gift for yourself or others. The Madonna collection includes two bottles - One with an image from the "Confessions on a Dancefloor" album which comes in Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, non-alcoholic and "UnWine", and another with the album cover itself. Prices are $25 - $40. The Rolling Stones collection includes 10 bottles - six of which have the famous Rolling Stones tongue logo (nearly sold out), and the others which have tour posters from the 1970's. |

Remainders: During the Strike, Styles Section Fails Us All (Dec 22 2005 22:50 GMT) - • We're glad the strike is over for myriad reasons, not the least of which is sparing us from thoughtless, insipid articles about how poorly we dressed just to stay warm. We're sure it was easy to pen crap like that from the comfort of your town car -- did Daddy get you that job at the Styles desk? [NYT] • Nothing a little anal bleaching can't fix. |

This is the best resource I know of right now for future directions, even though many questions haven't yet received fully-detailed answers (questions like "when CS3?" are still too early)... |

Long Way Round: Series (Dec 22 2005 22:50 GMT) - Recommended The Movie: A fascinating and very entertaining documentary series, "Long Way Round" follows around actors Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor as they ride motorcycles through Europe, Russia and then go through Alaska before finally ending up in New York and reuniting with their families before ending up in NYC. This isn't a vacation - the two go through some very rough terrain and dangerous areas, with one cameraman filming them and each with their own camera. A small support crew follows a ways behind, but essentially, the two long-time friends are on their own as they encounter a number of different cultures as they travel through places like Mongolia. Overall, the two end up traveling more than 20,000 miles. |

Amazing Race: Season 7 (Dec 22 2005 22:50 GMT) - Highly Recommended The Movie: "The Amazing Race" is, in my opinion, one of the finest shows to come to television in ages. The series, which is an almost unimaginable feat of logistics and organization, has a pack of 2-person teams (friends, family, co-workers, etc) in a race across the world. There are no retakes, and the show shows events in real time as the racers hit various sites across different continents, attempting to solve clues and tasks that will allow them to proceed onto their next "pit stop", where they will rest for 12 hours before heading out into the world once again. The last team to arrive at the pit stop is elimated, although there are a pre-determined number of "non-elimination" legs that are randomly placed throughout the race. |

Blogus Interruptus (Dec 22 2005 22:50 GMT) - A few days can seem like a few years when you're addicted to blogging. The withdrawal was getting desperate. Our technical work now finished, this blog hereby resumes its part in the ongoing discussion. Upcoming in the next month will be at least one new writer in this space, and a new year's eager anticipation of the continued fast evolution of the search space in 2006. As always, thanks for reading, and happy holidays. |

Havoc (Unrated) (Dec 22 2005 22:49 GMT) - Rent It The Movie: Over a year ago, the internet was abuzz with the rumor that actress Anne Hathaway was going to star in a movie that was not only "R", but required nudity (although the scenes themselves are fairly brief.) It wouldn't be so much of a surprise if Hathaway wasn't the star of such squeaky-clean films as "The Princess Diaries", "Ella Enchanted" and "Nicholas Nickleby." The film, directed by Barbara Kopple (the enjoyable Woody Allen documentary "Wild Man Blues") and written by Stephen Gaghan ("Traffic") was obviously Hathaway's attempt to show that she can do a role wholly and completely opposite of what she's done. Just when people started to wonder whatever happened to the movie, it makes its premiere on video. |
