Copyleft Hits a Snag (Dec 23 2005 10:59 GMT) - No one would confuse cyber-lawyer Lawrence Lessig with Homer Simpson -- symbol for all that is dumb about America. But Lessig, a professor of law at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA, has spent a good deal of time lately trying to figure out how to resolve a “doh!” moment of his own: realizing that the various intellectual property licenses that he helped design over recent years to encourage the sharing of intellectual property -- a movement collectively known as "copyleft," in contrast to copyright -- may actually prevent it. |

Making Your KDE Look Like Mac OSX (Dec 23 2005 10:59 GMT) - Many people are interested in getting their linux or BSD desktop interface to look as much like Apple's very successful OS X gui as possible. Now, I am well aware that many others are not thus enamored, and in fact profess a real dislike for the look. This article is NOT being written for the latter, and please if you don't like the OS X, don't write and/or comment and put it down. Just ignore this article. But for those of you who are interested in reproducing that look on your linux desktop, here is a step by step method for doing so on the KDE desktop environment. |

Can I get a refund after, like, twenty years? (Dec 23 2005 10:59 GMT) - If I'm very, very lucky (should that be "blessed"?), I get the occasional flashback. It lasts just long enough to remind me that I, too, was once a "moonbat" (a word we all really need to retire). Never quite humbling enough -- most days I can barely squeeze my big swollen head through the average door -- but yeah, humbling. So I'll be doing my once a month dusting and shudder at the sight of my scratched up Let Them Eat Jellybeans album, in the milk crate with all the other records I haven't listened to in years. |

Cholesbury Camp (Folklore by Rhiannon) (Dec 23 2005 10:58 GMT) - From the website which Kammer links to below:..a somewhat spooky story I unearthed about Cholesbury Camp a while back. Ever heard of the 'Screaming Pigs of Cholesbury'? Well the story is told of strange 'unearthly noises' emanating from Camp and the reluctance of even the most fearless of the men of the village to enter the Hillfort after dusk. So if anyone fancying a stroll as darkness falls is welcome to test out this theory let me know what happens! |

New Case Study: Personalized Employee Benefit Statements Create Successful Enrollment of Voluntary Benefits (Dec 23 2005 10:57 GMT) - Motivated by continuously rising costs for health insurance, increasing numbers of employers and employees both are turning to employee-paid Voluntary Benefits (VB) for insurance coverage. Yet group brokers often struggle with employer resistance to stand-alone VB enrollments at the workplace, as well as low participation and limited access to employees. As detailed in a new Cornerstone Enrollment Services Case Study, personalized Benefit Statements can open the door to a VB enrollment, create almost 100 percent access to employees, and dramatically increase voluntary participation.
