Googles Defense Of AOL Deal Misses The Point (Dec 25 2005 08:12 GMT) - Google has posted a response to critics of the AOL deal on its official blog, but that response conveniently ignores most of the criticism levelled at the company. It's only a partial attempt to come clean. Google says that the deal won't bias search results in favor of AOL, and that there won't be banner ads on the Google main page or search result pages. It adds "there will not be crazy, flashy, graphical doodads flying and popping up all over the Google site. |

SpyAxe, WinHound and now UnSpyPC. Which is next (Dec 25 2005 08:12 GMT) - Vendors of corrupt anti spyware software and their numerous affiliates took a fancy to the illegal distribution of their useless and sometimes even dangerous products. Regular users and security experts grew weary of all those SpyAxe, WinHound and similar less prevalent threats. However, malicious persons do not even think of stopping all this madness. Although users no longer believe in fake security alerts, ridiculous reports and other nonsense produced by rogue spyware removers, illegal distribution tactics really work. |

Charlie Crists lax email etiquette (Dec 25 2005 08:12 GMT) - I've talked about the anti-spam work of Florida attorney general Charlie Crist a couple times in recent weeks. But now it seems that Crist, who's running for governor of Florida, is accused of spamming voters. Crist's unwelcome campaign emails may not violate the CAN SPAM law, but his campaign web site certainly does a shoddy job of email etiquette. |

It infects the system when the user opens an infected file. Then the virus runs a payload. It disables Microsoft Word essential security features, changes the system time and copies infected documents to several folders. Rudelen attempts to corrupt installed software by removing its registry keys and severely damages the entire operating system by deleting critical executables and library files located in default Windows and system directories and in the root of the main hard disk. |

Internet: freedom tool or last resort of suspects culture (Dec 25 2005 08:12 GMT) - No one knows who has been the first to search the online evil using honeypot web sites, but what we know is that the idea has been such a great success, that it’s now almost out of control: decoy web sites are now countless. Each Nation has its own Secret Service and its own Police Corp, and each one of them has now got its own decoy sites, to attract paedophiles, terrorists, copyright laws infringers, hackers, and etcetera. |

Know Your Malware: Feebs Removal (Dec 25 2005 08:12 GMT) - Feebs is a worm that spreads through file sharing networks using popular peer-to-peer clients. Once executed, the parasite installs itself to the system and runs a spreading routine. It creates infected files with meaningful names in all shared folders it finds in the compromised system. Then it runs a payload. Feebs terminates running antiviruses, firewalls, anti-trojan tools and other security-related programs and prevents them from loading on next system startup. |

Spam: My new career ... as a cyber mule (Dec 25 2005 08:12 GMT) - Some cybercrooks have apparently harvested a bunch of email addresses from the New York Times online resume database. Mine was among them. (Yes, I'm looking for a full-time job.) The criminals then spammed the addresses with emails written to look like they came from a legit company seeking what they called couriers. " |
