Ricky Ponting gives Andrew Symonds kiss of death (Dec 25 2005 10:24 GMT) - Welcome news for Australia cricket as Ricky Ponting has given Andrew Symonds his vote of confidence. This usually happens to a player just before he gets dropped (the kiss of death) so I'm slightly more optimistic of a 5 bowler attack going into the 2nd Test. That would solve the Australian selector's problem of preventing Shane Warne burn-out. Meanwhile, the South African captain is going into mind-game overdrive as Graeme Smith accuses Shane Warne of trying to take over the Australian captaincy. Regarding Warnie's sledging, he's struck back, saying "The guys have started to take a laugh at him here and there". |

... l'escalier ... |

Computers for Xmas? [Alex Waterton (MMI)] (Dec 25 2005 10:23 GMT) - Have your precious children got a new computer for Christmas, if so please please please think carefully about where it will live? Unless they are older and more mature children, please put it somewhere where you as parents can see and advise what is happening. Please don't place it in the children's bedroom where you will not be able to monitor your child's actions and responses to who knows who in the likes of MSN/Yahoo chartrooms etc. Please think about the computer carefully, if you have any doubts or thoughts and are concerned, feel free to get in touch. |

THE AMERICAN DREAM (Dec 25 2005 10:22 GMT) - TimesOnline: "It was astounding enough for Washington's political elite: last month they discovered that the man at the heart of a scandal over the planting of US propaganda in Iraqi newspapers was a dapper but unknown 30-year-old Oxford graduate who had somehow managed to land a $100 million Pentagon contract. What is even more remarkable however, after an investigation by The Times, is that just ten years ago Christian Bailey, whose US company is under investigation for planting fake news stories in Iraqi newspapers, was a nerdy, socially awkward English school-leaver called Jozefowicz. This month it was revealed that Mr Bailey's US company, the Lincoln Group, was the recipient of a Pentagon contract to help to fight the information war in Iraq. |
