The Jewish Santa (Dec 25 2005 14:55 GMT) - The AP reports,The letters pour in from children around the world, telling two magical far-off figures their holiday wishes. These missives aren't sent to Santa Claus. They come from Jewish boys and girls who, for so long, had no one to write each December. They're for an ageless Kansas City couple known simply by Yiddish derivatives for grandmother and grandfather, Bubbie and Zadie. The story was created in 1981 by Danny Bloom, then a thirtysomething public relations professional at an Alaskan community college who wanted to pen a holiday narrative for Jewish children. |

What needs to happen in 2006 (Dec 25 2005 14:54 GMT) - I'm not too keen on making a best-of-2005 list right now. Hindsight is 20-20, and everybody knows it. This isn't the kind of blog that just professes what I think was great and puts down what I'm sure wasn't. I'm here to look forward. A good many things need to improve before I can say that I had a really good year again, and even though I've got only a few qualms about the past three-hundred-and-sixty-five, I do see plenty of room for improvement. |

Re: SERVER KAPANIYOR (Dec 25 2005 14:53 GMT) - The Lost Domain (Le Domain Perdu)Web Only: Pleasurable slow-burner "The Lost Domain," newest by Chilean-born fest favorite Raoul Ruiz, offers dazzling scenery and artful storytelling in the Proustian manner of his "Time Regained." But even though "Domain" touches on the 1973 coup which exiled helmer from his native land, pic feels curiously cerebral and lacking in passion.Lisp and Domain Specific LanguagesMatt Mower feels that Lisp is too crufty for domain specific languages, while Ben Hyde is reminiscing for the days when he could use Lisp to make domain specific languages. Ben's post points to Rainer Joswig's 15 minute screencast wherein Joswig constructs a domain specific language using Lisp. |
