Paul Martin is finished!!! (Dec 31 2005 23:59 GMT) - That according to Bourque Newswatch... Some are elected, or were, some are not, may never be. All aspire to lead Canada's so-called natural governing entity, the Liberal Party of Canada. Indeed, Bourque has learned from a variety of sources over the past 48 hours that devisive Liberal alliances are forming throughout the country as Pretenders to the Throne await a dubious election outcome and the rapid fall of Paul Martin's stewardship of the party ... the insurmountable evidence now clearly points to a devastatingly fractured Liberal Party, one held together more by a tenuous vernacular than by a robust idealism and altruism that would otherwise stimulate a lethargic political body hungering for vision and leadership Read the whole thing here. |

The Year in Review: Lists (Dec 31 2005 23:58 GMT) - Dear The Bloggers:I understand the desire to emulate print media. It can be fun to write in the style of a columnist, assume the authority of an Op-Ed writer, and issue judgments about taste or politics in the voice of a successful journalist. I also understand that you see journalistic types producing year-end lists, and that seems worthy of emulation too. Your model music reviewer or humor columnist or political analyst cranks out a Top 10 or 100 for the year, or the Cheers 'n' Jeers of the Yeer, or something like that. |

How New Year's is Celebrated Around the World (Dec 31 2005 23:58 GMT) - Filed under: Cultures, History, Learning, Events, StoriesFather Time has always been a man of mystery to me and so has his many calendars. As the clock adjusts itself to the start of a new set of days totaling 365, collectively year, confetti will pour from our dark skies, fireworks will illuminate the night and the opportunity to get it right this time will have finally appeared again. And while the world may celebrate this day with us so that business transactions, stock exchange and the code that keeps our machines in check doesn't end up in turmoil, it is not yet the New Year for some countries. The Chinese will celebrate their New Year for several days between January 17th and February 19th. |

America's Funniest Home Videos - Best of Kids and Animals (Dec 31 2005 23:56 GMT) - Recommended The Movie: ABC's longest-running comedy series and admittedly a guilty pleasure of mine, "America's Funniest Home Videos" has been on-air for about 15 years now, and has gone through a few different hosts - first Bob Saget, then the pairing of Daisy Fuentes and John Fugelsang and finally, "Hollywood Squares" host Tom Bergeron. The series itself has also gradually changed over the years, moving away a bit from the kind of humiliating videos that it previously showcased, which often involved people getting hit in very uncomfortable places, often while doing sports such as golf, baseball or some sort of winter sport. Instead of watching people act like complete idiots, the show has gradually steered a lot of its material towards the cute, such as pet videos and babies doing things that usually result in an "awwww..." from the studio audience, such as in one clip where a baby n... |
