Changes to JCR Meetings (Dec 31 2005 13:06 GMT) - Dear Mildertian, I hope you’ve had a very merry Christmas and aren’t missing Mildert too much. As we leave one year and enter the next, I’d like to seize on this opportunity to make a contrived comparison between the dawning of a new year and some changes that are being made within the JCR. They may not be quite as dramatic as Boris Yeltsin’s resignation on New Year’s Eve 1999 (or Sam Brown’s in June 2005), but I believe they will make the JCR a better run organisation. The JCR meeting used to be the main way that information was communicated to JCR members, but this has become less the case as email has taken over this function. While Reports of Officers used to be an opportunity for members to learn what their Exec is getting up to, it’s now little more than an opportunity for Exec members to repeat something to 20% of the JCR that they have already emailed out to the whole of the JCR. |
